There were definitely some looks of confusion when Mr. McBroom greeted students at carpool with "Happy Valentine's Day" today ... but many quickly realized that our staff underground dress-up was to represent our favorite holiday! Guess who we'll be dressed as tomorrow ...!

Students in our College & Career classes are experiencing mock interviews this week. They've developed resumes and even dress the part to practice landing that dream job!

This morning we had four students - Theo, Siddharth, Jadyn, and Hansini - participate on a student panel for the Teacher Leadership Institute. Total stars of the show! Speaking openly and honestly to a room full of teachers is no easy feat, and these students made us so proud!
Staff-only "underground" spirit days are happening this week. Day one has been lots of fun ... we can't wait for our Hawks to see us tomorrow!

Several of our band students have spent the past 4 months preparing for Region auditions. Special congratulations to the following students that earned placement in the 2025-2026 All-Region Band, the highest honor a middle school band student can receive! Ishan B. also placed 1st chair in the region out of all trumpet players who auditioned.

We're proud of all of our students who qualified to participate in our Campus Spelling Bee! Congratulations to Champion Hiya S. and Runner-Up Nayonika S. Next up: the District Spelling Bee in December!

It was an honor and a privilege to celebrate several Veterans this morning who have children or grandchildren at Hays. They enjoyed breakfast, performances by band, choir, and orchestra, and meaningful speeches delivered by NJHS and Student Council representatives. We are especially honored to have Veterans Ms. Jagers, Mr. Hertwig, and Mr. Brooks serve our school everyday!

Ms. Wilson and Hays Hope Squad members did a phenomenal job this morning as we welcomed guests from Poland who came to learn about Hope Squad in our schools. We're especially proud of our students who offered such critical perspective and voice about the importance of spreading hope and taking care of one another!
We are excited to say "Witamy!" to our visitors from Poland tomorrow. They are coming to Hays to learn more about Hope Squad. Please help us welcome them by wearing yellow! 🛟
