Together We CHAMPION!
Fourth-grade students recently participated in a Place Value BreakoutEDU activity in the library. Using their knowledge of place value, they worked together to solve challenges and unlock a series of locks. The ultimate goal? To successfully open all the locks on the box and complete the breakout!

Congratulations to our September/October Star Polishers! We are so proud of Mrs. Dorsey, Coach Pendergrass, and Ms. Wylie. Thank you for all you to to serve students, staff, and families at Smothermon Elementary.

Together We EMPOWER! Third grade teachers analyzed data, utilizing student work, as a collaborative team

Together We CULTIVATE! Fourth and first grade 'Owl Pals' met this week to begin building meaningful connections across grade levels

Together We CHAMPION! Fifth graders had explored the causes of the Jamestown deaths, then collaborated in groups to determine and defend which one they believed was most prevalent

Together We CHAMPION! Our fourth graders had fun experimenting with mini-oceans as they learned how to separate mixtures and solutions

Homecoming Parade Weather Update:

If the weather is unfavorable, the parade start will be delayed until 7:15 PM. If conditions do not improve by then, the parade will be canceled. Please note, there will be no rescheduled date.

Together We EMPOWER: This week, our teachers participated in micro professional learning sessions led by our content coordinators. They’ll be bringing this new learning back to their teams to strengthen collaboration and enhance upcoming lessons.

Together We CHAMPION: Mrs. Wilcher’s students used a Frayer Model on the Preamble and journaled about why colonists died at Jamestown, with her modeling and supporting their work.

Together We CHAMPION: Ben Franklin visited First Grade on Wednesday to celebrate Constitution Day!
