Last month we had the opportunity to celebrate SRO Appreciation Day and recognize Officer Tingue for the incredible impact she has on our campus. She does an amazing job building relationships with our students and staff, and it’s clear how much our kids love and trust her. We are so grateful for the care, support, and sense of safety she brings to Smothermon each day. Thank you, Officer Tingue, for all that you do for our school community!
Our 4th graders participated in their Texas Music Program on Tuesday, and they did an exceptional job! Students performed a variety of songs about Texas for their families, and we even had some students showcase the Do-si-do. We love sharing the amazing things our students are learning in music and are so proud of the hard work they put into this performance.
This week Mrs. McCord had the opportunity to collaborate with fifth grade in the library for an engaging Social Studies lesson! Students gathered around our large U.S. map to explore the Confederate States, Union States, and Border States. Through discussion and collaboration, they considered how geography, economics, and political views might influence a state's decision. It was a great example of students actively learning and thinking critically!
