In social studies, 1st grade learned about authority figures in our community such as the mayor, governor, and the president. We had a special visitor, the Mayor of Prosper, David Bristol, come and share his role and duties as Mayor and share about what he loves most about his job!

First graders in Mrs. Cady's class learned about heating and cooling this week in Science. They did a fun experiment where the observed how hot air can melt crayons because they are made of wax!

Author Josh Funk will be visiting Boyer Elementary on October 19. If you would like to order a book for him to personalize and sign while he is here, follow the instructions on this flier. Deadline to order is September 30.

Students in Mrs. King's first grade class created a shop and came up with 3 products to sell in math this week. They were able to vote on the product they would want to buy at each shop. Afterwards, they observed the data they collected and put it into a graph. What a fun, hands on way to learn about data collecting and graphing!

5th grader in Ms. Miller's ELAR class s used the instructional strategy Hexagonal Thinking to create patterns with their phonics words for the week. They linked words using syllable counts and types, prefixes and suffixes, and spelling similarities they noticed.
