Autumn Loyd

Autumn Loyd is in her 6th year of coaching. Prior to Walnut Grove, she spent the past three years at Canton High School with an overall record of 74-34 and back to back district championships. In the 2022 season, Canton was ranked #5 in the state under 4A classification and made their first regional tournament appearance. This is Coach Loyd's first year in Prosper ISD.

Coach Loyd was named District 16-4A Coach of the Year, American Volleyball Coaches Association Thirty Under 30 Award, 2023 THSCA R.O.C.K Mentee, and All-Rose Country Coach of the Year.

Coach Loyd graduated from Royse City High School and continued on to play at the collegiate level for New Mexico Military Institute. She graduated from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

Loyd loves the profession of coaching because she firmly believes that it's where you can create the deepest impact on kids by cultivating positive relationships. Coach Loyd's goal is to create genuine relationships, prepare young females to be strong leaders, and learn life lessons through the sport of volleyball.

Cori Cate

Cori Cate is entering her 7th year of coaching.Prior to Walnut Grove, Coach Cate coached at Prosper High and Reynolds Middle School in PISD. Prior to Prosper ISD, Coach Cate was the Varsity Assistant/JV coach at Boyd High School, where they were the 2018 state runner-ups. 

Coach Cate is originally from Lovington, New Mexico. There, she was a back-to-back basketball state champion in 2012 and 2013. She also won state in the high jump her senior year. She played 4 years of collegiate volleyball at West Texas A&M University. During her time there, she earned a Bachelor’s in Sports Exercise Science as well as her Master’s in Business Administration.

Coach Cate’s love for coaching stems from the coaches who poured into her during her youth. Lessons instilled in her on and off the court created a passion for coaching the next generation.

Susan Smith

Susan Smith is a graduate of Cedar Park High School where she played volleyball all four years, even going to State her senior year. She had played for 14 years prior to becoming University of Texas at San Antonio’s volleyball program’s statistician and videographer during her college career. Coach Smith graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in English and minored in Athletic Coaching. She is the daughter of life-long, dedicated educators; additionally, both her father and brother are currently high school football coaches in Texas.

Coach Smith started her coaching and teaching career at Round Rock High School in Austin, Texas. She coached freshman and JV Flex Volleyball, along with freshman Basketball. Each year they were proud District Champions. This is her third year as a coach, and she truly understands the impact of this profession, after years of also watching her parents teach and coach. She embraces a profound commitment: ensuring that every student and athlete, with their unique dreams and struggles, feels truly heard and seen. She strives to awaken the self-belief and resilience that every kid has because that is what makes this job so rewarding.
