5th grade mathematicians have been working hard mastering decimal place value! Students used a giant life sized number line in the 5th grade hallway to locate decimals to the thousandths place. They had great conversations about how they knew where their number belonged on the number line using benchmark fractions as their guide.

Second graders in Mrs. Heaton’s class had so much fun learning how to represent numbers in flexible ways! They used base ten blocks, Braining Camp, and vertical white boards to check for understanding and learn from one another. Their favorite part was playing musical boards and coming up with different ways to compose and decompose numbers with their friends!

Boyer 2nd grade GT students have started an exciting Engineering unit, exploring the essential question "How do engineers help us?" They're discovering different types of engineers and learning how each field solves real-world problems that impact our daily lives. Students are putting their knowledge into practice by designing and building their own engineering projects using the same engineering design process that professional engineers use!
