Teen Depression and Anxiety

Depression and anxiety often go hand-in-hand and are more than the occasional bad mood, stressing-out about school or peers, or acting out. Depression and anxiety strike teenagers far more often than most people think and are on the rise.

  • According to the National Institute of Mental Health, for children between the ages of 12-17, 10.7% struggle with depression and 12.5% with anxiety.
  • 1 in 4 teens will struggle with anxiety or depression at some point in their life.

Depression and anxiety can lead to declining academic performance, isolation, drug and alcohol abuse, self-loathing, self-harm, risky behaviors, and suicide.

Marcey Mettica, owner of Prosper Counseling, is a Licensed Professional Counselor that works extensively with children and adolescents battling depression and anxiety. Please join us for an informative session and get your questions answered.
