Ready, Set, Teach, WIN!!!

Prosper ISD’s Ready, Set, Teach (RST) program is designed to help students planning to pursue a career in education gain knowledge, training, and experience in the educational field. While learning from master teachers, these students provide support in classrooms throughout the district at the elementary and middle school levels.

In addition to their school work and internships on district campuses, many students also participate in competitions through their service and honor organization, the Texas Association of Future Educators. The students begin working on their competitions one day a week in class beginning with the 3rd week of school according to RST program director, Jennifer DeLano. In order to refine and polish their competition, many hours are spent outside of class but the time varies depending on the competition chosen. Students can choose from contests like Chapter Yearbook, Educational Leadership, Goal Setting, Portfolio, Job Interview, Project Visualize, Differentiated Lesson Planning, Parliamentary Procedure, Professional Development, and more.

In addition to these state competitions, the students also can participate in a host of national competitions through the Educators Rising program. The Educators Rising competition was originally slated to be held in Orlando, FL., but changed to virtual as they were facing many unknown variables.

The 24 RST Prosper students went on to find success at State and all but one competition advanced to Nationals. National Competition Results included:

Job Interview Varsity - 1st Place - Julia Camilleri

Exploring Education Administrative Careers Varsity - 1st place - Ally Schnagl

Project Visualize Varsity - 1st Place - Amy Gillespie and Skyler Stubblefield
