NEWS: Prosper ISD Names New Athletic Director

Prosper ISD is pleased to announce Mr. Jeff Smith is returning as the new Director of Athletics.  Coach Smith is returning to Prosper ISD after spending the last four years as the athletic director in Plano ISD.  He will replace Valerie Little, who was promoted to the Executive Director of Student Engagement in the fall.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Smith back to Prosper ISD. His exceptional leadership qualities align perfectly with the standards of excellence our community upholds and our students rightfully deserve. Collaborating with Coach Little and the entire athletic department, we are confident that he will further foster the development of student leaders and contribute to their growth,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Holly Ferguson said.

Coach Smith, with a wealth of 28 years of experience, previously held the position of assistant athletic director in Prosper ISD. Under his leadership, Prosper achieved two district championships, produced sixty-four Academic All-State Athletes, made multiple regional appearances, and secured a Top 10 spot in the University Interscholastic League’s (UIL) Lone Star Cup standings.

Before joining Prosper ISD, Smith was the head football coach and athletic coordinator at McKinney High School in McKinney ISD, where he guided teams to consecutive playoff appearances in 2017 and 2018.

His extensive coaching background spans both boys and girls athletics, and he is an active member of the Texas High School Coaches Association, the Texas Girls Coaches Association, the Texas Athletic Directors Association, and the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. Coach Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Baylor University and Masters of Athletic Administration from Texas A&M at Commerce.
